LOWE DOUBLE STRIKE PUTS BUNGAY CLEAR AT TOP

With this being a County Cup weekend, there was a greatly reduced league programme, but the games that took place provided some interesting outcomes.

I saw the game in 1A between the early pacesetters Sporting Longdale and Bungay Town. The first half was a tight affair, and with a stiff breeze behind them the Suffolk side produced some neat football and tested the Longdale keeper from distance three or four times. Longdale themselves had some decent chances which they failed to take. Five minutes after the break Bungay took the lead from the penalty spot, Aiden Lowe converting, then six minutes later the same player added his second with a superb half volley from just inside the area. The visitors dominated for most of the remainder, but it's fair to say both sides will have a decent season.

In 1B, an own goal was enough to move Bell Inn up into third spot as they beat Acle Rangers Res 1-0 and despite a Glynn Lewis goal, Ribs Rovers went down 4-1 at St Faiths. Spixworth Sunday Res won by the odd goal of seven (Andrew Salih 2, Chester Gardener, Guiseppe Bonura) at home to Heartsease FC.

Newsman Celtic are the new leaders of 2A. Their 3-0 (Powell, Sinclair and McArdle) home win over The Cottage saw them leapfrog Deopham who conceded five at home to Micawbers Tavern. Norman Wanderers A grabbed their first win of the season as they beat Ketts Tavern Wizards 4-0.

Revolution FC's scored twice (Marcus Holt, Jon Viguri) in the second half of their 2-1 win at SDC Utd to put them clear at the top of 2B, whilst Hethersett Ath are second after beating Locksley Ath 4-0,Adam Waters 2, Blair Luther-Veitch and Jack Raven the men on target. Mettingham scored five (James Foyster, Thomas Whall, Michael Fleckney, Connor Girling, Rory Symon) whilst winning a nine goal thriller at Costessey Sports and Salhouse Rovers had a good 4-1 win at Rileys FC.

Mischief FC moved to the top of the 3A with a 1-1 draw vs Dynamo FC. After trailing 1-0 at half time a Lee Askew equaliser with 15 minutes to go led to constant Mischief pressure for the remainder of the game but Dynamo held on for a well earned point.

Binham pulled off a great victory away at Salhouse Rovers in 3B with a fantastic hat-trick from Paul Pierce, a brace from Ryan Hugo, Captain Arron Martindale, and sealing the victory with his first goal for Binham, Jack George. Martin Woolner 3, and Jonathan Carver replied for the home side.
